Day 44 of 55 - El Arish, Queensland

Magnetic Island was a side trip we weren't expecting. Reluctantly, it was a short stay and soon time to move on and get to David's place in El Arish, Queensland. David is the son of one of my clients. I go into great detail about David, my work with his mum, and all about his organic tree farm deep in the rainforest in the book. Day 45 will also feature pictures of this amazing place. It's on Day 46 when we finally snorkel one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the Great Barrier Reef. Meanwhile, here are photos of David's place. Enjoy.

The road to El Arish. Still getting used to being on the "wrong" side of the road.

Australia's full of odd signs. This one warns us of possible cassowary crossings. Cassowarys are large emu-like birds. I'll have pictures of this odd flightless creature later.

David's front steps. Can you see them? It might help to click on the picture to get a better look.

David's "treehouse." It's really a stilt home, but it blended into the forest so well, I called it a treehouse. The white thing on the steps is a chicken.

David's five chickens...and then there were four. Big snakes live in this forest.

Here I am standing on David's front porch after a nice cool swim in one of the property's three natural streams.
